all about Annie...
Since retiring from my triathlon/duathlon career I have embarked on several new adventures in a quest to find out what I wanted to do post competing. It was always going to make sense to stay involved with triathlon in some shape or form, after all, the sport was my life for over ten years.
A roller coaster ten years, which simply started with me doing early morning swim sessions at the local pool, mainly as a hangover cure! I never anticipated that it would turn into a successful career in triathlon - a sport that I only found out about because a few swimmers at the pool were racing Ironman. What most appealed back in the early 90s was the fact that it was a relatively unknown sport, and when you mentioned to anyone that you did triathlon it was always met with a gasp, followed by, "oh that's crazy, that's a really tough sport." I guess it was the going into the unknown, the craziness and the freshness of such a new, up and coming sport that appealed to me most. Since I started triathlon the sport has grown beyond anyone's imagination and more and more people are taking part in sprint distance triathlons right up to Ironman distance. Who would have thought that London would become home to the largest triathlon in the world - this year there were over 13,000 entries at the Mazda London Triathlon.
With all that in mind it leads me to my current career at www.tri247.com. Tri247 is the UK's #1 triathlon resource and I'm currently the deputy editor. It's a very exciting position as I get to stay in touch with all the very latest happenings in the triathlon world, both at home and abroad. A lot of hard work has gone into the site and our small team has worked hard to see the numbers of visitors coming to the site grow from just a few hundred a day to up to 7,000 on a busy day.
so, what can I do for you...
This website sets out the services that I can provide, both to individual athletes looking for assistance in developing their careers and organisations who want someone to provide an insight into the sport. Additionally, there's my involvement as an event commentator and interviewer, both live and for TV.
